Extradition of Kurdish refugee to Turkey: Julien Martin takes Croatia to the European Court of Human Rights

During a trip to Croatia, Tamer Yilmaz, a Kurdish political refugee living in Strasbourg, was arrested for extradition to Turkey. Arrested on January 27, 2024 and detained for 40 days, he is on hunger strike to protest against his extradition.

Although he has had refugee status in France since June 2022, the pre-trial detention ordered by the Croatian courts and the associated risk of extradition constitute arbitrary deprivation of liberty and treatment contrary to the European Convention on Human Rights.
