Fees

Maître Julien Martin au Tribunal Judiciaire de Strasbourg

Fees are freely agreed with the customer

As soon as the matter is referred to us, Julien MARTIN informs the client of the methods used to determine the fees covering the foreseeable work involved and of all the costs, disbursements and emoluments he may incur.

All consultations at Julien MARTIN’s office are billed at the applicable hourly rate, exclusive of tax.

The amount of fees and expenses is determined by a fee agreement, which informs the customer of the basis for calculating fees, the amount of expenses and the applicable VAT.

Terms and conditions

The amount of the basic fee is set in two ways.

Travail au temps passé
Past tense

Based on an hourly rate set out in the fee agreement, plus any ancillary costs.

Ex: bailiff’s fees, stamp duties, postage and copying costs, travel expenses.

Travail au forfait
Forfaitairement

If the procedure in question makes it possible to determine with certainty the foreseeable steps to be taken and the amount of the applicable fees.

The firm of Julien MARTIN will not carry out any work without prior payment of an advance on the agreed fees.

Payment for services rendered by Maître Julien MARTIN may be made in successive instalments, with a summary invoice at the end of the procedure or intervention.

Legal aid

Julien MARTIN accepts to act as legal aid for certain procedures that he reserves the right to determine in a restrictive manner. Julien MARTIN’s office does not prepare legal aid applications, nor does it make photocopies of documents required for legal aid applications.

The legal aid offices located in the Tribunaux de Grande Instance of the litigants’ geographical area of jurisdiction are fully competent to do this.

In proceedings before the European Court of Human Rights, legal aid is granted by the Court only if the application is declared admissible and subject to certain conditions.

Legal aid offices are not empowered to issue legal aid decisions, and bar associations cannot legally appoint a public defender in proceedings before the European Court of Human Rights.
